Technical implementation

The DMS Connector consists of the following setup tables:

DMS Vault setup

The DMS Vault setup establishes the connection via the REST API between Business Central and the respective document vault in M-Files (see DMS M-Files vault setup).

DMS setup

In the area of the DMS Connector setup you will find three tabs. In the tab General you will find the current version of the DMS Connector. Also, here you can define number series for the DMS Transaction Number, which is needed to link documents over a longer process, for example from the order to the posted sales invoice. In the Upload attempts tab, you can view the parameters of how the upload of records is performed (see DMS Connector setup).

DMS M-Files table setup

In the "DMS M-Files Table Setup", the master and process data that is to be replicated in the form of M-Files objects is created and the mapping of metadata is performed. A table setup always refers to a Business Central table and, if applicable, the associated rows table. Multiple table setups can be created per Business Central table. (see DMS M-Files table setup).

(deprecated) DMS report archive setup

DMS Report Archiving is used to generate PDF documents from posted receipts. These documents can be automatically stored in M-Files. (see DMS Report Archive Setup).

(new) DMS Archive Setup

The DMS Archiving enables the archiving of documents that are sent by e-mail or released. Scheduled archiving, e.g. for posted documents, is also possible. (see DMS Archive Setup).

DMS user setup

The DMS user setup controls which user gets permissions to delete objects in M-Files. Furthermore, you can define here which link type should be opened per user (Desktop Client, Web Client or the respective application). (see DMS user setup).

DMS object import

If new documents or objects have been created in M-Files that are not yet stored in Business Central, the associated information can be transferred to Business Central using file synchronization and linked to the respective master or transaction record there. After the file synchronization has been executed, the new documents are displayed in the document info box (see Object import setup).
